Cafe East, Queen Street Mall, Brisbane CBD

January 10, 2013

Got tired of walking around in the city so decided to stop for coffee, couldn't be bothered going anywhere far and so went to Cafe East which was already right next to me when I was walking.... Been here couple of times not for coffee or for their cakes but for jugs of beer and alcohol when with a few mates...

Ordered two drinks, cappucinno and an iced lime tea, and I do have to say, the Ice Lime Tea was very limey... I know it may sound stupid, but usually you see Ice Lemon Tea and yeh, you can taste the lemon and all, but sometimes it just seems as if you need to add extra lemons... But for this lime tea, it was already very limey... I think I actually finished it in a short time, or maybe it was because I was thirsty...
Felt like cake, so ordered a cake, was juggling between three of them which was sitting so beautifully on the display, but still couldn't make up my mind, and so, my usual self, I ask the waitress or the person in the counter... and then he recommended the Hazelnut Dacquoise.. I think that's what they called it...
Served with cream and vanilla ice cream. on and slices of strawberries...
Other side of plate is drizzle chocolate sauce shaped like a messy star... Have I mentioned all desserts have a set price? Well, they do...
Topped with flour or icing sugar at the very top, with then the hazelnut dacquoise bit which I am not too sure what, and then a moist chocolate cake in the center and at the bottom of the cake it seemed as if it was a biscuit base...
An almond at the top with shavings of white chocolate on the side...
