HQ Cafe - Chermside, Brisbane

January 09, 2019

Although there may be a few different restaurants available, we decided to go to HQ Cafe to have a more casual setting for lunch.

Starting with the Bacon Deluxe, served with fries. The burger itself was actually not too bad with grass fed beef, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles with bacon jam and mayonnaise. It wasn't dry nor tough with the bun itself having that soft texture in every bite, however I was unsure what the bacon jam was supposed to taste like.

200gm Rump, 120 days grain fed served with chips and a side salad. Steak was rather cooked more than requested however the chips and salad was well cooked.

Fettucinne Garlic Prawns, served in an oval bowl with green prawns tossed in a creamy white wine and garlic sauce topped with parmesan cheese. The fettucinne was cooked well, not overcooked nor undercooked. The garlic prawns had the right amount of kick from the garlic but was also not overpowered or had that raw garlic aftertaste. The creamy white wine sauce could've been stronger I think but then, some may prefer it as it was.

Parmigiana Plus has bacon on top of the tomato and cheese served with a side salad and chips. The chicken breast marinated in buttermilk and crumbed with fresh breadcrumbs fried golden, topped with tomato, cheese and bacon. The tomato sauce tasted a bit bland and didn't have any chunks of tomato at all, but that would come down to personal preference.

Very dry chicken breast meat with the sides of the parmy being bit burnt which was a bummer. The tomato and cheese was quite generous though having the thick melted cheese on top. However, wasn't a great one.
