Djournal, another achievement from Ismaya Group, focusing on coffee. Their idea of the ambience and environment of the Djournal Coffee branches is that everyone considers their house as their first home, their workplace, as their second home, and here, at Djournal establishments, they want it to be known as our third home. Where we all can have a smile on our faces and have a pleasant experience through the service, baristas, coffee and ambience too. They don't only sell coffee however, with various cakes and pastries displayed on their glass display on the front counter as well as a menu, filled with not many but a sufficient amount of main courses and side dishes for those who would like to have savoury dishes, not just sweet.

Although the overall taste and flavour of their Ice blended signatures were quite refreshing and has that hint of nutella and green tea, it was a dissapointment that they didn't even fill it up to where the plastic cup line was, and basically filled the top with cream, in which the Green Tea had the original cream size with the Nutella having a little bit of cream as requested.

'Gilroy Garlic Fries' (IDR35k ~=AUD$3.5) was served topped with bits of parsley which I thought seemed they were lazy to add more. The garlic fries weren't too bad but since we both loved garlic, it would've been great if there were more garlic fries that was infused or even added on top of the fries. Not so much garlic salt, no, but more bits and pieces of fried garlic.

Note that this is a delayed post so menu options may have changed since then. The interior reminds me of somewhat similar to Kitchenette however with much more rustic and bistro look with hanging cabinets. Being another work of Ismaya group, you know that they will have a new concept and each place has its own characteristic.

Having a canteen concept within the restaurant, just take your table number and make your way and queue or start from the left towards the counter. You have to pay at the counter and they will bring your order to your table when it's ready. Most of the food options is Western Cuisine and they do change their menu from time to time but you will find your daily needs such as chicken, fish or beef.

A french inspired bistro, where old meets new takes you back into those Parisian bistro and with a Modern Australian menu with a french twist, you wonder what is in store for you not only by reading the menu but also having that anxiousness in how your dish will look when it arrives on your table.

A funny thing happened with this particular review, I had lost all the photos somehow and found it in the end but then, it took me so long to actually try and find the menu during the time I had dined here because of course, without the names of the dishes, what good would it be for a review? And so, I searched high and low for it and finally found it. No, not online as you would know menu do changes occasionally but instead, in another folder in one of my many many files. So, this is why this review is up, very very late and I do apologize for the delay in the review of this bistro but better late then never right? Plus, I just thought that this deserved a review, not only because I had pretty photos of the food we ate that day but also that it would be a waste for me to just leave it be hanging there in a folder untouched..

If you ever stumble upon Degraves St in Melbourne CBD, I would recommend you to walk through it, find a suitable or eye-catching place and dine there whether it may be for breakfast, lunch, dessert or even just coffee and cake. Degraves St is a must visit definitely, with its European style laneways, a variety of coffee shops and as you walk through it, the smell of the aroma from coffee beans is just what make Melbourne, Melbourne. Alfresco setting, warm interiors, it just simply reminded me of those little European cafes even their lamps and seats reminded me of them.

Apologies for the delays and the absence of the posts.. I've been extremely busy with uni studies, since mid-sems has been over-taking my time and I've also been getting so much lack of sleep :( But now since I'm having a 'little' bit of time on my hands, what better way to use that time to blog... So let me start off, with a sweet start.. Wunderbar Bakery Bistro is a German eatery located in Teneriffe. Offering both desserts and light meals, coffee and alcohol. I remembered when this place used to be Passione and I loved their waffles especially and was quite upset when I found out they had closed down. There are German restaurants in Brisbane however, not bakeries.
